* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * These platens were made in at least 3 sizes, No. 1, 8" x 5" and No. 2, 11" x 7" and at an earlier period, a 10" x 15" also. It seems this hand-fed platen range was superceded by the fully automatic "Thompson British" circa 1936-7 (see index). Although the press had adequate inking -- with 4 forme rollers, it's strange that the manufacturer persisted with the out-dated ink disk.
